Zinc Beanie
ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Zinc Beanie is knit with worsted weight yarn. I recommend using a solid, tonal, or gradually fading yarn (vs. hand painted or speckled) to ensure that the subtle textural design remains visible.
Knit and purl, decreasing (knitwise and purlwise), working small circumferences in the round with magic loop (or method of choice). Instructions are written.
PATTERN DETAILS
Designed by Susan Watkins -- one size (fits head with up to 23” circ. with little to no ease; 19” 48cm circ. at brim x 8.5-9” 21.5cm tall); US 7 4.5mm circular, 32” 80cm long for magic loop; 20 sts x 30 rows = 4” 10cm over hat body pattern
SHOPKEEPER’S NOTES
For fun, I also knit this pattern in a super springy, machine washable, wool/acrylic blend in DK weight with US 6 needles. I didn’t make any other alterations to the pattern, and it worked beautifully, resulting in a tighter-fitting beanie, which some people may prefer.
Named after my mom’s favorite breakfast hangout in Laguna Beach, CA.
