From Let’s Knit website, listing for Vintage Bed Jacket, which probably wasn’t published with that precise name:
“This pattern originally came from a 1932 edition of Aunt Kate’s Knitting Book. Aunt Kate was a homely character who appeared in the newspapers of John Leng & Co in Dundee, notably the People’s Journal (1859-1986) which had a wide Scottish readership. Aunt Kate appeared around the later 1880s as a regular feature before having her own Aunt Kate series which ran in two series from late 1890-1910s and then 1933 onwards. Her books covered all sorts of homely pursuits from baking, cooking, knitting and sewing through to fortune-telling and dream interpretation.”
