When our house was built, in the 1840’s, these northern Illinois woods were still inhabited by peaceable native families - hunters and gatherers mainly, and if one (me!) is particularly lucky, their arrowheads may yet (just this past summer!) be found along the banks of our beautiful Kinnikinnick creek.
I’ve created a collection of three knitted accessories which celebrates our gentle and nature-loving predecessors …
… each worked in 2 colors and all sharing a common arrowhead motif … stylish and coordinated without being too matchy matchy:
Solid-colored scarf has a gansey-style pattern and a contrasting color tasseled trim, beanie has a lined hem, stranded geometrical pattern and a corkscrew and tassel trim, and fingerless gloves are worked in stripes with a narrow column of colorwork up the outside.
