The Return to Maine series includes 14 sewing and knitting patterns that work together to create a complete wardrobe, plus a selection of beautiful photos, stories and essays from our journeys and artisans throughout Maine. Following on the heels of our most popular and out-of-print By Hand Serial issue (Lookbook 2: Portland, Maine), this ebook provides a more comprehensive look at the scenery and natural splendor of Maine, which provides inspiration for the accompanying collection.
There are 7 knitting patterns and 7 sewing patterns, some of which are yet unreleased:
Knitting: Lumini Cowl, Box Pleat Top, Gander Cardigan, Lubec Pullover, Welted Pullover, Staghorn Tunic, Early Mist Snood. These knitting patterns are included in the ebook with beautiful full color pictures, and are also made available as individual downloads through links in the back of each ebook.
Sewing: Classic Long Sleeve, Box Pleat Top, Sly Pocket Skirt, Machias Trouser, Acadia Duster, Acadia Shift, Camden Coat - see our website for these patterns. These sewing patterns are included with the purchase of the ebook as digital downloads via link in the back of the book, and include print at home and wide format printing options.
All patterns are sized for XS - 8X, to fit our current size range. This size range encompasses 34-61” bust, 26-53” waist, and 35-62” hip measurements, but many patterns have extended included ease thanks to comfortable construction options like drawstrings and gathered waists and a slightly oversized fit. We recommend reading more about our sizing here. Patterns in this book are modeled by Andrea Hungerford in size M and Lexi Nimmo in size 3X. #sizeinclusive
The book also includes a selection of the best essays and writings from our Return to Maine Journal series, including our Route US 1 Road Trip, visits to Acadia and Deer Isle, a Moose Safari by Canoe, and On the Fly, a special feature from female fly-fishers Bri Dostie and Noam Stark. Pages are full of gorgeous, full-color photography from Jenn Bakos (our photographer for Lookbooks 11-15 in the original By Hand Serial series). Additionally, the book contains tips for material selection and modification of each pattern and guidance on construction methods via video, provided by video link on some pattern’s feature pages.
Individually purchasing the patterns for this book would be over $175 USD, but we’re offering it all in digital format for only $24.99.
