Knit Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Pelerine design in either a lace or garter stitch version. In 1977 EZ wrote: “You may wear it over anything: turtlenecks, other sweaters, or summer dresses. When it was designed we hunted for a descriptive title. Jettisoning Ponchillo and Capelet as somewhat coy, I dug back into 19th Century novels, old issues of “Punch” magazine and my remnants of French and found Pelerine (which is also in the big English dictionary) - a short cape derived from the French for pilgrim. So Pelerine it is; I like to think the first one in 100 years.“
