Introducing Fell Garth, an 8-piece collection named after our Lake District family homestead and designed for long fell walks, farmers’ market Sundays and tea with friends. Discover the warmth of Cumbria from The Fibre Co. with garments and accessories designed to evoke the comfort of home even when your adventures take you far away. Featuring designs from emerging British knitwear designer Emma Wright and Melanie Berg aka Mairlynd, one of our favourite shawl and accessory designers.
Fell Garth is a collection born from our love for beautiful handmades with a practical purpose. Each piece is worked in either Cumbria or Cumbria Fingering, our most recently developed yarns that were created to be evocative of the mood, light and places that characterise the North West of the UK. Sweaters in the collection enjoy rich textures from cables and twisted stitches and the shawls by Melanie Berg hug the body enticingly on cold windswept days.
Daphne, founder and owner of The Fibre Co., explains, “I wanted garments that could be worn on the Cumbrian fells looking equally good for a trip to market or out for tea. There was a need for practicality due to our notorious but sometimes endearing (like today with an inch of snow on the ground) weather.” Working with Maggi Toner-Edgar, Cumbrian-based fashion stylist, illustrator and lifestyle coach, Daphne channeled all her love for her new home into the styling of the collection, inviting local creator Alison O’Neill of the Shepherdess Tweed range to be a part of the project that was shot outdoors on location by photographer Tommy Martin with studio images by Kate O’Sullivan of A Playful Day. The result is a collection infused with local flavour, ready for knitters all over the world to make their own.
