Every year I like to knit a pair of mittens to give to each of the teachers in my children’s lives as part of their holiday present. Sometimes they discover the teacher’s favorite color, other times they’ve taken note of the color of his or her coat.

Knitting: Cowl
Bold and graphic, this stranded colorwork cowl is knit in the round with seed stitch borders. Take your favorite colors to the next level in cotton (suggested) or wool for cooler days. This cowl is sure to make a statement!
Knitting: Cardigan
Worked in the round from the top down, the Argyle Boyfriend Cardigan uses stranded colorwork and steeks to create a mirrored argyle pattern. Elegant and sophisticated, this cardigan is ready to grace the college campus or the farmer’s market, showing off your favorite colors in a stitch pattern for all time.

Knitting: Pullover
This striped sweater was made with 4 different colored stripes, but you could easily change it up and make it with 1, 2, 3 or more colors. It’s a simple pullover but the puffed sleeves make it oh so cute.

This simple little dress would be adorable over bloomers or leggings. I love the black and white…but so many other color combinations would be lovely as well.
Knitting: Shrug / Bolero
This little shrug makes for a really fast knit and is the perfect addition to a little girl’s summer/spring wardrobe.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
The square cabled sections of this blanket are separated from each other by a few stitches or a few rows of garter stitch. Although it is knit all in one piece, it almost looks as though it were knit in separate squares and sewn together.
Knitting: Cowl
The ultra-soft yarn used for this cowl was perfect. It’s an alpaca/bamboo blend which makes it unbelievably soft and smooth. Since it’s a chainette yarn, it’s also airy and light. With just the right amount of drape, this cowl is really comfortable to wear.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This triangular shawlette is knit from corner to corner--lengthwise. A small garter stitch border is knit as you go with little short-rows on one side so that it ruffles along the bottom edges.
Knitting: Dress
Who says horizontal stripes aren’t flattering? The bold black stripes across the midsection work wonders if you ask me. Knit in the round from the top down, with capped sleeves, this is surprisingly quick to knit.
Knitting: Coat / Jacket
This cropped little coat, with the little lapels is too cute. Simple Garter Stitch lays the foundation, and shaping along the front openings and the sides helps to keep it interesting.
Knitting: Cowl
I love a V-neck shaped cowl. It doesn’t fit too tight around the neck, and it keeps me warm no matter what kind of neckline my shirt has. This one is lightweight so it can be worn when the weather gets a little warmer as well.
Knitting: Tee
A knit stitch is just a knit stitch no matter what size needles or what weight yarn you use. And yet, to me, knitting looks so impressive when done on a fine gauge.
Knitting: Cowl
This cozy, cabled cowl almost resembles a shawlette from the front. But since it’s a cowl, it stays put; no need to fuss with keeping it in place. The V-neck shape keeps you warm even when your neckline plunges. And the bulky weight yarn makes this a quick knit.

Knitting: Legwarmers, Skirt
This pattern includes directions for a skirt and directions for legwarmers.

This simple raglan V-neck is knit from the top down and it’s reversible.
Knitting: Cowl
A friend asked me if I could design a cowl that would work with variegated yarn. Now, one might argue that everything looks good with variegated yarn, but I immediately saw her point. Most cowls have beautiful stitch patterns--that could be under-appreciated if they are overshadowed by an amazing colorway.
Knitting: Vest
This adorable vest closely resembles a down-filled ski vest and is nearly as warm. The faux quilting is incredibly simple to accomplish, and with the bulky gauge, this knits up in no time at all.
Knitting: Cowl
This super soft cowl is completely reversible. It’s worked in 2x2 ribbing and uses large cables to create a loosely braided look.
