Knitting: Applique / Embellishment
This design was created and uploaded by my youngest child as a school project.
Knitting: Cowl, Scarf
The origins of this design are two-fold. On the one hand, I had spun a beautiful roving of merino-bamboo dyed by a local maker. This yarn reminded me of a prairie sunrise (or sunset), which is also the inspirational visual for the 2019 Manitoba Fibre Festival’s Create - Make - Collaborate community make-a-long. At the same time, important conve...

Homeward Bound Migration commemorates my growing family’s migration home to Winnipeg after living in Kitchener, ON for eight years. The design is dedicated to all the amazing knitters I met in Kitchener-Waterloo, particularly my delightful friends of the Uptown Knit Mob. They transformed my life as a knitter (designer, and new spinner) while pr...

This intermediate level lace stole is knit lengthwise and designed to be fully reversible. The garter lace creates a lovely, squishy texture that will scrunch into a cozy scarf and open for a shoulder wrap. Picot edgings along the length and fluttery tips with beading add a feminine touch.

Snow melts. Greyish-green grasses poke through, hungry for sunlight. Ever more green pokes through. Did I mention the snow melting? That day you thought would never come before next winter?
Knitting: Cowl
A delightfully squishy, warm, reversible cowl that can be knit up in your favourite bulky yarn. Use one colour, or stripe it with two or more. A great way to use up those bulky ends.
Knitting: Cowl
This bulky pattern is whipped up in no time and is delightfully cozy and snug.

I live in Winterpeg/Winnipeg. It is freezing cold here for a few months. (It really is very warm in summer.) When I wrote this pattern, the temperatures were in the minus 40s (that’s centigrade).

This pair of shawls design was created while I was pregnant with twins. I expected to have fraternal twins, because they run in my maternal line, but as it turns out we conceived “identical” sisters. My twin daughters are monozygotic. I know because they were monochorionic in the womb. Claire, aka Baby B, was born second as she was second in li...

Where do bees go in winter? I wondered to myself one chilly afternoon. Sure, I could research the answer, but I’d rather imagine them hunkering down in a cozy tree hollow surrounded by warm fluffy honeycombs. Those fluffy honeycombs trap warm air and keep it close.

Did you grab one of those crazy, interesting, brightly coloured ribbon yarns at the shop? (Or perhaps your daughter begged you to). Wondering what to make with it?

Dragons have ignited the imagination for centuries. They have been associated with every element, with every colour, with fear and with kindness, with protection and with that which we need protection from. May your imagination guide you as you create your dragon.

Crossed, elongated stitches create the main stitch body that reminded me of flickering flames. These have been complimented by a pair of flame tips on each end.
