Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Marica (pronounced mur-eech, मरिच ) is Sanskrit for black pepper.

The Kona hat is a basic beanie made for adults. The pattern is fully reversible, and unisex. The design is very beginner friendly, and is a quick hat to knit up. The use of simple knit and purl stitches keeps the design beginner friendly, while making a very interesting wearable.

Musafir (traveller in Urdu) is a simple-looking elegant cowl that uses cables and long colour changes in a fun way.

The beautiful ironwork on the massive gates of old have always been a source of fascination. The amount of effort that has gone into making something not just functional and durable, but also unique and gorgeous, all the while imparting the sense of security that gates are meant to.
Crochet: Scarf
Sugama (pronounced as su-gum-a; Sanskrit for easy) is a basic scarf that is prefect for beginners.

Sarpa (serpent in Sanskrit) was the name I could think as long as this block was being designed. The twists and turns of the cables kept reminding me of the beautiful curvaceous movements of the Indian Cobra.

Zephyr (West Wind, a gentle breeze in Greek) is the name that struck me when this design came into creation. The playfulness of the double cables can only express a gentle and happy feeling!

The cables in this pattern are a bit different while maintaining a very tradition cable design, making it very understated!

While designing this block we faced racism and bigotry coming into the forefront worldwide, and we all joined hands to stand up to it. The link between the cables in this pattern made me think of linking arms to stand together in Solidarity
Crochet: Vest
Godugulu (Umbrellas in Telugu, my mother tongue) is a fun vest for kids that uses techniques like Intarsia and stranded crochet to bring joy in the dull rainy weather.

Palakhya (beet in Sanskrit) gets its name from the lovely colourway of the upcycled Vardhman Millenium yarn in my stash. The previous version was used with a lot of love. But a lack of yarn, being stuck at a non-stash location during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, and a desperate need to design during that time brought about this design.
Crochet: Market bag (slouchy)
Parna (greenery in Sanskrit; ParNa) reminded me of the verdant greenery in nature. Its also named so because it is made with Jute, which is a very sustainable natural fiber.

Jala (prounounced as “jal”, ‘water’ in Sanskrit) evokes the flow of water from a ‘pichkari’ or water spray used in the colour games during Holi.

The design of the first block is inspired by the classic Japanese paper folding art to create shapes: Origami

The design of the second block reminds me a lot of the interlocking chainmail. The linked chains make it look like some are smaller links than the others, giving a different view all around.
Crochet: Bonnet
Veni (weaving, or braid in Sanskrit) is a great stash-busting project for those half DK weight skeins. Mix and match in any colourway, it is bound to be a cheerful bonnet for your lil one!!

Jaali (lattice in Sanskrit) reminded me a lot about the lattice windows of Hawa Mahal, Jaipur. The pattern looks to combine lace and cables to bring about a similar feeling for breeziness that the beautiful structure does.

This is a cowl designed to show off the beautiful cables and lace design. The pattern is deceptively easy, and is a great project for an adventurous beginner or intermediate knitter.
