I fell in love with Targhee sheep and their wickedly wonderful wool years and years ago when I had loads of spinning time on my hands. It is as much a joy to spin as it is to knit. It’s so lofty that you expect it to just float away and it seriously could with the amount of elasticity it has. It might not be ultra soft like a very fine merino, but to me it is just soft enough. We have our Bulky and Worsted weight yarns and now for a limited time we have it as a worsted weight single with a little bit of silk added just because! I’m more than a little in love with this yarn. I have been knitting on it for a few weeks now and I am going to do my dead level best to make sure I can add it to our Targee family of yarns. In the meantime, I have about 100 pounds so get it while you can and then keep your fingers crossed. Once you knit with it you are going to want a whole lot more of this dreamy yarn. All our testers on this yarn wanted sweaters quantities. I actually think I might dye myself a sweater’s worth before it is all gone. Just in case! Our Targhee is both raised and milled domestically. Targhee is one of America’s youngest breeds and is named after the National Forest where they grazed in the summer. The forest was named after the Chief of the Bannock tribe of the Northern Paiute. I love the history the breed name holds, so why not keep it as the yarn’s name.
