As I have said before, I fell in love with Targhee sheep and their wonderful wool years ago when I had loads of spinning time. Oh, those were the days! I am here to tell you that it is as much a joy to spin as it is to knit. It’s so lofty that you expect it to just float away and you want it to take you with it! It might not be super soft like a very fine merino, but in my opinion it’s just soft enough with more durability than an ultra fine fiber. It’s all in that crimp. The elasticity that Targhee brings to the table make its softness less slippery and more like a cloud. Well, at least what I imagine a cloud to be like. Now, let’s take this elastic fiber and make it a cabled yarn. A cabled fingering weight yarn, no less. I have to say I have not been as excited about a yarn since we made Socks that Rock. There’s just something about this super stretchy wonder of a yarn that makes me so happy. It feels as good to knit as it does to wear. I think the possibilities with our super-bounce, fun-fun-fun, Tigger Targhee are endless, just endless. Every single person I have given it to test knit with just loves it. I think you will too. We have tested it as a sock yarn. Yes, even with no superwash we think it is a good sock yarn because it is a cabled yarn. We have knit socks and washed and dried them in a dryer and they faired well. Now… would I do that all the time? No. What it means is that they will wear well. And with all that stretch, they are super cozy. I can’t wait to see what you think.
