Stjernestøv (“stardust”) is an incredibly soft, light, airy but thick yarn in a luscious blend of 48% superfine alpaca, 8% merino wool, 21% polyamide (glitter) and 23% polyester.

Stjernestøv is manufactured at an Italian family owned spinning mill where the environment and animal welfare are taken into account, which of course means that the merino wool is mulesing free.

Stjernestøv has a glitter mesh tube as the core with a luscious blend of merino and alpaca blown into it, making it a hard wearing but super soft and luxurious yarn.

Stjernestøv is perfect for the trending oversize knits on big needles and in multiple colors when you want a glitter effect either in stripes or at the ribbing. When used for the entire project, Stjernestøv has a soft and luxurious expression.

With all the beautiful colors to choose from, there are plenty of options for putting your favorite color palette together.

If you want a similar light and airy yarn in 100% natural materials without glitter, Snefnug (“snowflake”) would be the obvious choice.

Snefnug and Stjernestøv combine beautifully.

Stjernestøv is a Bulky weight yarn with 4-6 mm as the recommended needle size and a recommended gauge of 12-16 sts and about 24 rows per 10 cm.

Handwashing the finished project is recommended. Use a wool detergent and lay flat to dry. Machine-washing can make the finished project shrink by 7%, but it will stretch in use.

It is also recommended to knit ribbing a bit tighter as these too will stretch in use.
