100% wool.

This yarn is made from 100% Latvian sheep wool and is known as Dundaga yarn. It is washed using traditional methods with pond water and salt, which helps preserve up to 70% of its natural lanolin. Thanks to this, garments knitted from this yarn are exceptionally warm and well suited for colder climates.

The yarn is beautifully dyed in a wide range of shades, with soft, natural colour transitions that create a subtle gradient effect. These nuanced tones give finished pieces a refined and timeless character.

This is not a soft or delicate yarn like merino wool. Instead, it reflects the authentic feel of traditional Latvian countryside wool with a more rustic texture. The good news is that with each wash, the finished garment gradually becomes softer and more comfortable to wear.

Care Instructions:
It’s advised to wash this yarn before knitting with it. Hand wash only! Manufacturer also advises on adding vinegar to the rinse water to help setting the colours.

Yarn comes in hanks, it will need winding before use.

As this yarn is made from 100% wool, gentle care is recommended. Hand wash using a wool-friendly shampoo. Water temperature should not exceed 30°C (86°F). Dry flat to maintain shape.
