Field Notes
Crafted from a wild and earthy mix of hemp and cotton, Field Notes is for knitters with the adventurous spirit of naturalists and explorers, a beautiful yarn for creative endeavors, discoveries, and reflection.
-
French-grown hemp makes up 50% of Field Notes, lending the yarn a hearty character and a slightly rustic texture… Similar to linen, but with a natural beauty all its own! Hemp requires little water to grow and naturally resists most pests. Its fibers are harvested from the stem of the plant and are long and very strong.
-
Rare Sicilian cotton makes up the other 50% of Field Notes. Grown in the Palermo region near the island’s sunny northern coast, this cotton is unmercerized to preserve its matte finish and adds surprising softness to this hardworking yarn.
-
Made in Italy, Field Notes is a light worsted/DK-weight yarn, built on a foundation of many fine strands to enhance its strength and durability. Three strands of tightly-spun 2-ply pairs are loosely twisted together, creating a lively, supple feeling on the needles.
-
Field Notes is hypoallergenic, plant-based, and easy to care for, knitting up into an appealing fabric with a slightly untamed quality. It grows even more beautiful with machine washing and drying, plumping up and softening to create the perfect balance of density and drape.
-
You’ll love this cooling cotton and hemp yarn for practical towels and washcloths, sturdy take-along bags, adventure-ready summer tees and tanks, and more. Explore our Field Notes knitting patterns for ideas and pick from a palette of rich colors drawn from the colored pencil illustrations in a traveler’s sketchbook, like Fresco Red, Mountain Pool, and Deep Forest.
-
TIP: As with all plant fibers, we recommend pulling Field Notes from the outside of the ball.
