Our new Speckledy range of double knit yarns are a melange creating a deep Speckledy colour reminding us of our colourful flock of chickens. We used the fleeces from black, dark brown and red brown alpacas, made them into a deep brown top and then blended that with white wool to create the smoky brown natural grey Speckledy Grey.

The yarn was then dyed so that the white wool picked up the colour with the dark hues of the alpaca remaining. My first attempt at hand dyeing proved that this worked so off the yarn went to the professionals. The four colours are Speckledy Gold, Speckledy Blue, Speckledy Red and Speckledy Violet. The superfine range of yarns knit up beautifully and have a gorgeous soft handle. The alpaca in our yarns is sourced from alpaca farms based in the UK and all the scouring, top making and spinning takes place in the north of England.

This is a proven blend that offers increased resistance to shedding and pilling and adds loft and substance to the yarn. Please see the Yarn Care Guide page for tension squares and washing instructions.
