JoLene Marie Treace, 50, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Fort Wayne.

I was a machine knitter in high school, and designed my graduation dress. It was a skirt with three panels that had a lacey join between the panels (A-line skirt). I don’t remember the yarn anymore although it was a fine gauge, with a slick finish and somewhat of a “hard” wrap (it wasn’t a fuzzy yarn, more like a linen or cotton although being a coned yarn for machine knitting, it was a synthetic of some sort). It had a camisole top, and a cap sleeved lace jacket. I got out of machine knitting in college (I was in nursing school) as there were things I wanted to do that I could not do with a machine. I married at age 25 to a divorced man 13 years older than me with three teenagers and a 5 year old living at home with him. The 5 year old got into knitting in 4-H, and I picked up handknitting again when she did. My first professional design was Lilly, a popular design from Louet. I enjoy photography, cooking, just about everything creative. I have done China Painting, and Metalsmithing also. At one time I was a member of the Michigan Silversmith’s Guild, and had a couple pieces in their juried art show at the Ann Arbor Art Center. I am a member of the Association of Knitwear Designers, a juried professional, and am the PR Chair of the organization.
