SINUOUS CABLES CARVE sand dune-like formations into this poncho’s simple rectangular shape. Ladders of lace punctuated with textural details make the piece both interesting to knit and beautiful to wear. Slipped stitches at the beginning of every row add a self-finished edge – just add buttons and you are done. As an added bonus, the openings formed in the broad cables act as buttonholes so you don’t have to make any when you are knitting (although we do recommend reinforcement of the buttonholes).

The poncho is designed to be worn with the buttons on the left shoulder, but you can wear it numerous ways. Try arranging your poncho with the buttons in the front or undo the buttons and wear it as a shawl or wrapped around your neck as a scarf. By using attractive backing buttons, you’ll even find that the poncho can be reversible. You will feel stunning in this beautiful, graceful, cashmere poncho!

The pattern first released in Vogue Knitting Winter 2017/18 as the Sand Dunes Poncho. Kits available at junecashmere.com
