2018 Countdown to Christmas Shawl
10g of fingering-weight yarn per day will make the countdown to Christmas such fun!
I don’t know about you guys, but I always get so excited about the mystery 10g mini-skein advent calendars. I love opening them up to a new surprise each day to see what the dyer has decided to tuck in. I love how adorable these little minis are & I especially love that I get a little yarny present each day! The only problem is that twenty-five 10g mini-skeins of mystery fingering weight yarn can be pretty hard to wrangle into a cohesive project. So, I created a pattern just for this problem!
For this Mystery Knit-a-Long we’ll be using either a pre-made yarn advent calendar, a homemade one or just 3 skeins of yarn that you love together. Each day of the MKaL (Dec 1-25), you’ll receive a piece of the pattern that will build on the piece from the day before. The pieces all add up to a beautiful, textural shawl that is slightly asymmetrical & a great way to use those minis the day you open them!
All clues have now been released & are available as soon as you purchase the pattern.

Notes
This pattern is written to work with any fingering-weight yarn advent calendar regardless of dyeing technique used on the yarn so feel free to jump in & play. Alternatively, if you haven’t purchased a pre-made yarn advent calendar from your favorite indie dyer you can always make your own from leftover bits in your stash. (That’s what I did. ) Just weigh out twenty-five 10g balls of yarn & toss them into a bag. Each day, pick one out & go to town. Don’t let those precious mini-skeins & leftovers go unused!
For those of you who want nothing to do with random craziness happening in your shawl, you could also just pick 3 skeins of yarn that you love & alternate them through the days. For example, use your Color 1 on Days 1, 4, 7, 10… etc. Your Color 2 would be used on Days 2, 5, 8, 11… etc. & Color 3 would be for Days 3, 6, 9, 12… etc.
