This project is perhaps more correctly called “new year, new wrap” because the design is a straightforward rectangle, with no shaping. That fact, combined with simple stitch patterns, makes this a good project for relatively new knitters. There aren’t too many beginner-friendly MKALs, and I’m hoping some knitters who are fairly new to the craft will take a chance with this knitalong.

The project was designed for either two colours or five. In the two-colour version, both colours are used throughout the design; in the five-colour version, one main colour is used throughout, paired with a different colour in each of the four clues. Solid or semi-solid colours work best for the five-colour project, and the colourful neps in my tweed yarn really helped to unify the overall design. The more colour-adventurous might try pairing one solid-coloured yarn with a multi-coloured yarn in a two-colour project, and a long-change variegated or a gradient yarn might be quite effective. The pattern was designed for a DK weight yarn, and both of my samples were knit with Rowan’s Felted Tweed.
