Texture can be everything! Here, a lacy, textured crochet stitch pattern is beautifully paired with an elegant and rustic linen and alpaca blend yarn, resulting in a highly wearable triangular shawl.

The shawl begins at the bottom tip. As you progress in rows, you are slowly increasing stitches along one edge, while keeping the other edge straight. The lace stitch repeats this gentle increase pattern over 6 rows, which are both charted and written out.

Along the way, a solid double crochet border is maintained along both edges for a neat finish.

After the desired length is reached, an optional final row of solid double crochet can be worked to complete the border.

The stitch pattern is not too complicated and is actually just a 3-row repeat, but because of the gentle increasing, you’ll be working a 6-row repeat for this shawl.

Easily substitute other fingering-weight yarns or try this pattern with a thicker yarn (and a bigger crochet hook) for a warmer shawl. This shawl could easily be color blocked or striped as well (think of the stash-busting potential!).

Finished Measurements: 33 ½“ / 85 cm across top; 62” / 157.5 cm along straight edge; 70 ½” / 179 cm along increase edge.

GAUGE:
Approx 2 patt reps of sts = 2 ½“ / 6.5 cm and 5 rows = 2” / 5 cm in patt

Sample shown is in Purl Soho Linen Quill in #2049 Twig Brown. Substitutes listed.
