This design is a collaboration between Kate Davies and Sandra Manson, of Jamieson and Smith. It features Kate’s original ‘Rams and Yowes’ charts and was designed and knitted for Sandra’s Yorkshire Terrier, Toby, whose distinctive knitwear makes him Shetland’s best turned-out canine!

Finished dimensions of coat:
From Neck to Tail: 38cm (15in)
Edge to edge across belly: 46cm (18in)
Going up a needle size & adjusting gauge is a simple way of increasing the basic dimensions of this coat.

You will need:

Jamieson & Smith Shetland Supreme Jumper Weight (Knits as 4ply; 100% Real Shetland Wool; 172m/50g balls)
A White 2001; 1 ball
B Mooskit 2002; 1 ball
C Shaela 2003; 1 ball
D Moorit 2004; 1 ball
E Shetland Black 2005; 1 ball
F Gaulmogit 2006; 1 ball
G Sholmit 2007; 1 ball
H Katmollet 2008; 1 ball
I Yuglet 2009; 1 ball

(The coat is designed to showcase all nine natural sheep shades of Shetland Supreme, but as only a very small amount of Sholmit (G) is used, you may wish to substitute this shade with an alternative.)
3mm (UK 11/US 2-3) knitting needles (circular needles may be required for body & tail edging due to number of sts)
3mm (UK 11/US 2-3) double-pointed needles (dpns)
Waste yarn (a smooth 4ply yarn in a contrasting colour works best)
Tapestry needle for sewing in ends
