Accordion is a quick and engaging project suitable for beginners with a simple and beautiful pattern of diagonal lines on a background of stockinette stitch. One round of purl stitch makes the fabric fold onto itself like an accordion, whilst the bell shape gives the wearer comfort without bulk.

The cowl is worked in the round, in one piece, starting from the narrow end. Increases occur in every second lace section.

The yarn featured has 320m/360yards per 100g, resulting in a cowl with a top diameter—47 cm (18.5”), bottom diameter—66 cm (26”) and length—37 cm (14.5”). If using a fingering weight yarn with around 400m/437yards, it is possible to get another repeat of the pattern, with a final length closer to 42 cm (16.5”).
