Aether Shawl
The annual Indie Design Gift-A-Long has begun, and this pattern is part of our grand kick-off sale! Use the coupon code giftalong2024 to get 25% off until midnight on the 27th of November (US EST).
Aether is the material once believed to fill the sky above the terrestrial sphere, a fifth element through which light travels. Starlight was the inspiration for this geometric lace pattern, with mesh triangles forming a mosaic of starbursts on a background of garter stitch.
The Aether Shawl is a delicate triangular shawl in laceweight yarn, worked from the bottom up. Stitches are picked up around the diagonal edges and a simple garter stitch border is worked to finish.
Skills & Techniques:
Garter stitch and simple lace, picking up stitches, K2tog-Tbl Bind Off (optional).
Materials Needed:
1 skein of Miss Click Clack Shark Bay Lace (50% merino, 50% silk; 766yds/700m per 100g skein), or 763yds/697m of laceweight yarn.
Finished Measurements:
Relaxed after blocking: 72”/183cm wingspan, and 34.5”/88cm depth.
The shawl can be enlarged by adding repeats (with additional yarn).
Charts and written instructions are both provided in full.
