Amari Cowl is knit using the intarsia knitting in the round colourwork technique to create a block pattern. The blocks can be knit from scrap yarn or mini skeins.

The name Amari is gender neutral, originating from West Africa, specifically from the Yoruba people where it means “strength” or “courage”. As a word, Amari appears in other languages; in Sanskrit meaning, “eternal”; in Latin, it means, “to be loved” and in Hebrew, “promised by God”.

The cowl was created for a workshop for the John Arbon Mill Open event, using yarn offered as yarn support by John Arbon Textiles.
