Sankofa is an Adinkra symbol from West Africa. It represent the need to reflect on the past to build a successful future.

Sankofa cushion/pillow cover is worked in pieces then sewed together after completion. The front piece is worked from a chart using the intarsia colourwork technique and the back is worked as two pieces which are overlapped when seaming to leave an opening for the pillow/cushion form.

The pillow or cushion cover has been knit with yarn generously given by Urth Yarns as yarn support but any DK/Worsted yarn that gives the correct gauge will be suitable. A smaller needle than usual has been used for a tighter gauge.
