Another Brick in the Wall Cowl
This warm and comfortable cowl can be made in one evening or afternoon, making it a quick gift – or a quick project for yourself of course.
It features a textured body with some added visual interest created through the contrast colour edging and surface slip stitches.
Use any bulky weight yarn with a bigger hook than usually, to make the cowl nice and soft. Due to the bulky yarn, it will still be very warm, even though the fabric feels light and airy.
Materials:
bulky weight yarn in two colours
95 yds / 90 m of main colour (dark grey in the sample)
30 yds / 28 m of contrast colour (purple in the sample)
size M/N or 9 mm crochet hook
big darning needle or small crochet hook for weaving in ends
Gauge:
one pattern repeat (dc to dc with crossed stitches in between, excluding rounds with only dcs) = 3.25“ / 8cm in width, 1.5“ / 3 cm in height
Gauge is not crucial, as long as your cowl will still comfortably fit. Keep in mind that a difference in gauge might affect your yarn requirements
Stitches used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
dtr = double treble crochet
sl st = slip stitch
