This striking cowl features a spider motif centred on a triangular panel that sits flat against the chest. Once the motif section is complete, the piece transitions seamlessly into circular knitting to form the neck portion.

• The triangular panel is primarily worked in garter stitch (knitting every row), creating a textured backdrop for the spider design.
• The spider motif itself is knit using stranded colorwork in stockinette stitch, offering crisp definition against the garter stitch.
• For best visual impact, choose yarns with strong value contrast—this ensures the motif stands out clearly.
• The colorwork section is small and straightforward, making it ideal even for knitters new to stranded techniques.
• The contrast colour is only carried across the motif area, not the entire width of the cowl, minimizing complexity.

The pattern has a chart for the stranded colourwork spider motif.
