The configuration of small diamonds with
wide sashing requires many more strands
than is typical in most Argyle patterns.
Therefore, bobbins are not recommended
for this pattern, but rather strands of yarn.
Furthermore, wool yarn (NOT superwash)
is recommended so that one can easily join
strands with a “spit join” and thus avoid
multiple tails while working the project.
This particular pattern will require 12 strands
of background and 13 strands for the small
diamonds. Background strands of 5 feet
work well, but if shorter strands for easier
knitting is desired, one will simply spit join
working yarns more frequently. Diamonds
can be accomplished with 3 ft strands.
Crisscross strands should be accomplished
with duplicate stitch after main pattern of
hat is completed.
