Easy to knit the project, difficult to name the design. I often overlook the easy projects in favor of challenging designs. This time I let the gradient yarn do the hard work. The hardest thing about it was deciding on a name. Since my default source of names tends to be those of family and friends, I went for a common Southern family name found in my extended family in Florida and Georgia.

Skill Level: Easy in-the-round
Required Skills: crochet cast on, knitting in-the-round on circular needles.
One size
Finished measurements: 8”/20.3cn width, 52”/132cm circumference
Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch. Gauge is not critical in this pattern, but a different gauge will affect yardage and size of finished garment. It may be necessary to unravel gauge swatch and re-use the yarn. Take time to check gauge.
Materials:
Yarn: Sport weight gradient yarn, 100g/279yds. Model shown in Cloudborn Fibers Merino Alpaca Sport Color Change in color Puget Sound, 1 skein
Needles: US 7/4.5mm circular needle 30”, or size needed to obtain gauge
Crochet hook: size G/4.0mm
Yarn needle

Notes: Let this be your don’t-have-to-think-too-hard project for watching TV, waiting in a doctor’s office, or riding the train. With any of the beautiful color combinations of Cloudborn Fibers Merino Alpaca Sport Color Change to choose from, pick the one that makes you happy and knit on. No stitch marker needed.
Project begins with a crochet cast on which is joined to work in the round. If you need help with this cast on, check out the video at http://newstitchaday.com/crochet-cast-on/. Joining to work in the round is explained at http://newstitchaday.com/how-to-knit-the-invisible-join-i.... Although any cast on will do for this project, the crochet cast on is used because it mimics a standard bind off.
