Aster Lace Panel Tee
The pale blue cotton in this floral tee reminds me of summer, when just the barest wisp of cloud swoops across the sky like a brush stroke. The delicate lace panel is the real showstopper in this one; it’s absolutely stunning and looks complex, but it’s not at all difficult to work (I promise). The detail creates a flattering vertical visual down the center of your tee with classic details throughout. Knit in lightweight cotton this airy design is wearable on a warm day, and the fabric is light enough to layer for cooler evenings. Dress it down with a denim jacket or dress it up with a silk shawl. Aster is a versatile piece you can wear year-round.
Construction:
This breezy floral tee is knit top-down in the round (in one seamless piece) with round yoke construction and short rows. The increases are spaced evenly around the yoke (on either side of the center panel) as you work down toward the underarms. The top and sleeves are worked all in one down to the underarm, then the sleeves are separated onto waste yarn while you complete the rest of the body.
The lace panel continues down the center of the body on a background of stockinette stitch, and the half sleeves are worked last. (You could easily make your sleeves shorter or longer, if you like -- it’s one of the perks of knitting a top-down, seamless style). This classic design is finished with simple ribbed edges. Bonus: There’s very little finishing since the neckline is worked right into the pattern when you cast on (there are no stitches to pick up).
