Protons, neutrons, and electrons, oh, my! This middle-school science class throwback design features a bold central panel with cables reminiscent of atomic orbitals. The Atomic Pullover’s wide-rib hem flows seamlessly into the cables. This piece is worked flat in pieces and seamed.
Difficulty Level Intermediate
Finished Size 36¼ (39¾, 43½, 47¼, 51, 54¾)“ circumference at underarm. Pullover shown measures 39¾”; modeled with 9¾“ of positive ease.
Yarn Kelbourne Woolens Andorra (60% merino wool, 20% highland wool, 20% mohair; 185 yd / 1¾ oz): #446 haint blue, 8 (9, 9, 10, 11, 12) skeins.
Needles Size 2 (2.75 mm): 16” circular. Size 3 (3.25 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers; cable needle; stitch holders; tapestry needle.
Gauge 26 sts and 34 rows= 4” in St st on larger needles; 62 sts of Cable chart = 7¼“ wide on larger needles.
