The BALABEANIE pattern consists of a beanie and a hood worked in broken rib. The beanie is simple in shape, and the fit of the hood leaves room for the beanie to be worn under it. The pattern for both parts is written in both a solid-colored
version and a striped version.

The beanie is worked from the bottom up. The stitches are cast on using the Italian cast-on technique, and the beanie is worked in the round.

The hood is worked from the top down. First, a square is worked, which forms the top of the hood. Then, stitches are picked up and knitted along the sides of the square, and the joined below the chin, and the hood is worked in the round to
the bottom edge, bound off using the Italian bind-off technique. At the end, a rib edge is worked around the face opening.
