Bare Hill Hat
Bare Hill is a 865 foot tall hill at the south end of Canandaigua Lake in western New York state. Each year, on the Saturday before Labor day, a bonfire is lit at its top to commemorate the Seneca ceremony of peace and abundant harvest. Below, on the lakeshore, residents light flares around the 32-mile shore in the traditional “Ring of Fire”.
Bare Hill Hat is mosaic and textured beanie designed to coordinate with Bare Hill Cowl and Bare Hill Mittens. The two sizes are worked in Aran weight yarns with US size 9 (5.5 mm) needles to make the knitting quick. Worked in Garter Rib with an easy 3-color slip stitch design, it should fit most heads and is easily adjustable for larger or smaller sizes.
The samples shown used Quince & Co. Osprey in Bird’s Egg (97 yds), Goldfinch (27 yds), and Apricot (34 yds).
