Ribbing patterns are perfect for socks because they provide a snug yet comfortable fit. Bend Lines socks spice up plain ribbing with cleverly placed decreases and increases to create diagonal stripes.

The socks are worked with an unconventional gusset shaping to keep the knitting interesting. The socks are knit cuff down almost entirely in 2x1 ribbing with heel flap and gusset. The gusset decreases are done on the instep (arch shaped). The placement of decreases and increases creates diagonal stripes going toward the middle of the front and back of the leg. The ribbing stitch pattern is continued onto the heel flap and the toe. Stitch patterns are both written and charted.

Charts are worked both in the round and flat. When working
chart in the round, read each chart row from right to left as a
RS row; when working chart flat, read RS rows (even numbers)
from right to left, and WS rows (odd numbers) from left to right.
