Inspiration
Bitxilore means daisy, margarita in Spanish, and this design is a tribute to my years-long friendship with Marga (short for Margarita), from Greta and the Fibers. It’s a truly special design, one knitted partly in her company, during one of our trips to a knitting festival, where I like to help her as a vendor whenever I can. This design is the perfect combination of our traits, her name and my personality, in a wildflower. My first ever lace sock design, reminiscent of the early days of summer, of fields filled with shy budding daisies. I hope you enjoy it.

Construction
The Bitxilore socks are worked from the toe up. They start with a long, rounded toe, then the instep and front leg are decorated with a lace panel, while the sole and the back are worked in plain stockinette stitch. Marga’s favourite heel is an afterthought heel, so this is what this design incorporates. You can choose to knit a true afterthought heel (cutting in the fabric of your sock tube) or a peasant heel (placing the stitches where the heel will go later on leftover yarn). Toe and heel instructions are written for circular needles on magic loop, while the rest of the sock can be easily knit on short circular needles. The leg of the sock is finished with a picot edge, folded and sewn to the inside of the sock. Both socks are worked alike. Choose a size that has a circumference 1-2 cm 0.5-0.75” less than your actual foot circumference at its widest point (negative ease).

Techniques
Judy’s magic cast-on, magic loop, knitting, purling, increasing (make one right and left, yarn over), decreases (knitting stitches together), charted lace instructions (written instructions are provided too), knitted bobbles, Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind-off, sewing the bind-off to the beginning of the cuff, picking up stitches and Kitchener stitch.
