Blue Moon Hat
Most of my designs are planned in advance. I sketch, measure, calculate and then start knitting the first sample. But once in a blue moon a design happens very much on its own: I pick up the needles and the project just grows into something. When I started knitting, I didn’t know this yarn wanted to be a hat, let alone what type of hat, but this is the result: a blue moon hat.
Knit in a chunky yarn, this hat is a pretty fast knit. Mine was knit in a cotton/acrylic blend that’s not too hot so I could wear it in the Spring and Summer, but if you knit it in a wool or wool blend it would be quite warm. I used two skeins, one solid-color and one variegated, whereby the solid color was one of the colors that was also part of the mix in the variegated yarn. However, you could use any yarn you fancy, of course, and create all sorts of different effects by combining different colors, or just keep it simple in one beautiful color.
