Boomer the Bird
Boomer the Bird is a small, whimsical character a child will want to carry everywhere, about 7.5 inches tall and full of personality.
Boomer loves music, and he is happiest with his boombox, listening along and having a great time.
His stripes and spots are not just decoration. The bold pattern and texture give a young child something to look at and explore, and the bright colors are easy for little eyes to track, part of the developmental thinking behind every Byrd’s Nest toy.
Boomer is an approachable knit worked in the round with standard increases and decreases, and just enough colorwork to be interesting without being fussy.
He takes only 125 to 200 yards of worsted, so he is a quick, cheerful make.
Skill level is advancing beginner. If you can knit in the round and carry a second color, you can make Boomer.
Designed by Julie Anderson of The Byrd’s Nest, drawing on a Master’s in early childhood special education and more than 17 years of designing toys made to be loved.
