This cozy scarf features a stitch motif often referred to as Berry in a Box, a relatively simple bobbly texture that is easily achieved through knits, purls, yarn overs, and decreases. The ends of the scarf are punctuated with whimsical pom poms in a variety of colors…such a fun way to use up the leftover odds and ends in your knitting basket!

The Bramblewood sample pictured was knit with a lofty woolen-spun bulky weight yarn to create a generously sized scarf (long enough to wrap around your neck a couple of times).This pattern can easily be adapted to different sizes (even children’s sizes) and lighter (or heavier) yarns.

YARN
The sample pictured was knit using 2.5 skeins of bulky weight
100% Eco wool yarn, with each skein measuring approximately
190 yards/100g.
Pom poms were made with an assortment of DK and worsted
weight yarn scraps including SHELTER by Brooklyn Tweed.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
• size US 9 / 5.5mm
• tapestry needle, sharp scissors, pom pom making tool (or
cardboard)

GAUGE and SIZE
This pattern is written for bulky weight yarn that knits to a gauge of approximately 4.5 stitches to the inch on size US 9 (5.5mm) needles. The finished scarf measures 11 x 74 inches.
Each pom pom is approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.

Please note that (as with many shawl and scarf patterns) gauge is not critical. You may wish to swatch in order to estimate the finished size of your scarf, depending on the weight of the yarn you’ve chosen.
