Butterick's Pointed Border
From 1892 Butterick’s The Art of Knitting, p.24, no. 1, this border/edging also makes a great scarf pattern (see my “Butterick’s Border Scarf” on Ravelry). This border/edging pattern is so easy that after finishing one point, you might not need the instructions any more! My only change was to slip the first stitch of every row for a tidier edge. Half the rows are “knit to end” after the slip stitch.
The border/edging is 5 inches at its widest at gauge.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, YO, k2tog, PSSO and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
75 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic #10 crochet cotton thread will make 10” of border.
