The top is worked from the top down.
First, the back is worked, with sloping shoulders shaped using short rows. The shoulders are then joined, and the back is worked with increases for the armholes and to the desired length.

The upper sections of the fronts are worked next, also with short rows at the top, followed by increases for the V-neck and the armholes. Each front is worked to the same length as the back.

The pieces are joined using mattress stitch, leaving an opening at the lower edge for a slit.
