This cowl is a companion piece to the Cabled Tassels Hat and the Cabled Tassels Fingerless Mitts. It’s a fairly quick knit that takes between 140 to 200 of light worsted yarn, depending on the length you choose for the shawl collar. Perfect for that one or one plus skein you have left from the sweater you just finished.
It’s a neck warmer style cowl that hugs the neck, without constricting, and provides just that little extra warmth over your back and shoulders. And the longer shawl collar can be raised up to almost a demi hood, covering your ears to keep you nice and cozy. This is especially good if you have short hair, or wear your hair up, and want to keep the back of your neck warn.
The fit is one size fits most, but it can be made larger or smaller by either changing your needle size up or down, or adding or deleting some of the ribbing (in 4 stitch increments) along the back. You can also make the cowl longer by adding a few more rows at the beginning, to give you a longer drape over the neck and shoulders.
There are directions for 3 different shawl collar lengths, 2 inch, 4 inch, and 6 inch, using short row shaping.
The pattern motif is charted, and the chart is written out in its entirety.
