Cables For Lara
This hat was designed as a gift for a little girl named Lara for her birthday … I then went away and adjusted the pattern to make an adult sized version and that is where this pattern came from … it was only fitting to name the hat after the little girl as it was with her in mind that this was created … I hope you enjoy the pattern and do let me know if you have any difficulties with it.
What you will need:
• Yarn – 100g Bulky Yarn (approx. 180m metres / 197 yards) Yarn used in sample – Rico Creative Melange Chunky (50grams – 90m) 2 balls in colour way 033 Green/Orange.
• Needles – 4mm (US 6) & 5mm (US 8) needles on 16” circulars or preferred method for working in the round, 5mm DPN’s or Long Cable to magic loop the crown, and a Cable needle.
• Notions – Stitch Markers 1 for beginning of the round. Additional may be used to separate the pattern repeats but make sure these are different from the one used at the beginning of the round.
• Gauge – Approx 7.5 sts/inch
Finished Size of Hat – 14 /16 inch un-stretched in the Small/Large sizes.
Note the Small sized hat will fit a young child up to the ages of 3 or 4. From my experience children’s heads are not that much smaller than an adult’s head and due to the nature of the cables in this hat pattern the Large size will fit most heads comfortably. Note the Large sized hat is shown in the pattern pictures.
