This scarf was designed as a reversible, unisex scarf design for gifts to Operation Gratitude which sends care packages to our troops. 2022 update: They have since requested no cabled scarves as they tend to be bulkier and can be hard to fit into their boxes.

Note on gauge: gauge was measured with piece at rest- the cables pull in drastically. The piece is very stretchy.

Materials:
4“ x 50“ scarf: 1 skein Berroco Comfort Solids 210 yds/192 m (100 g) in colorway 9747 Cadet. You will need an additional skein for a wider or longer scarf as the sample scarf used the entire skein.
OR
5.75“ x 26“ cowl: 2 skeins Knit Picks Swish DK 123 yds/112 m (50 g) in colorway 24632 Serrano
US 9/ 5.5 mm knitting needles, or size to obtain gauge
Darning needle
Cowl only: 9.0 mm/(M/N) size crochet hook for provisional cast-on
1 yard of smooth cotton waste yarn

The cowl uses a provisional cast on for grafting the ends seamlessly once the knitting is complete.
