Check out the baseball version of this design: Knit the Season 2017

Cainer Cowl is a fun spiraling beaded stockinette and lace design. It is knit as a tube, and then the ends are joined to make a cowl. You have the option to knit enough repeats to have your cowl lie flat once you have joined the ends. Or you can continue to knit rounds to use up all the yarn in your skein. This option will most likely create a twist in your cowl once you have joined the ends. The length can be adjusted since you can keep working until you have used up almost all your yarn, leaving enough for the bind-off.

Cainer Cowl was originally designed to knit the baseball season where you knit different colors to represent wins and losses. My knitter friends who aren’t baseball fans wanted to knit the design because they loved the spiral pattern so I wrote a non-knit the season version. Cainer Cowl will look great in virtually any type of yarn. Tonal, speckled, variegated, self-striping, gradient - the possibilities are endless!

This design is named for Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants. He retired at the end of the 2017 season which is the season for which I designed the original pattern. Thank you, Matt, for 13 wonderful seasons. You are forever Giant.
