Cat Hat
When I was looking through my stash yarn for this issue, I discovered a bag of RedFish DyeWorks Silk Sock yarn in Halloween colors. I used yellow and orange for the Cat Lady Socks, and I thought it would be fun to play with the cat chart and make a hat. I wanted the simplest hat construction, so I avoided any crown shaping. When the hat is the desired length, you seam it (or use a three-needle bind off) to close the top. The pattern is graded Intermediate due to the weight of the yarn and the stranding.
When I design stranded charts, I prefer to carry the floats rather than catch them, and I prefer not to have floats longer than 1”. Each cat square is 1”wide. I would not do this if the project were gloves. Since this is a hat, the floats are unlikely to get caught.
After I made the first sample, I discovered you can’t make just one. I knit up samples in three colorways and sizes.
