Ponchos have been worn for centuries and are now considered a typical south American garments. They are very useful, easy to wear and will keep your body warm.
“Cayambe” is knit in “Shalimar Yarns” Breathless DK (shown in “Slag”).
Use of various cables and textured pattern gives the fabric very interesting look and at the same time makes knitting real fun.
“Cayambe” is knit flat as a long rectangle with one side finished with an i-cord. After blocking the piece is folded, sides sewn together and neck trim added at the very end.
The size of it can be adjusted easily by knitting the rectangle longer and wider, make sure you have enough yarn. Medium size shown uses almost all of 4 skeins of “Breathless DK”.

The pattern has been created for advanced beginners who would like a little challenge. However, advanced knitters should find it interesting and engaging to do.
Instructions are written and charted.
