Charlee Fingerless Mitts
This pattern was designed for Knit Knack and the 3rd Annual Yarn Along the Rockies! It is free, and is available online as part of the YATR free ebook.
“Football games at Mile High, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, or shopping in Estes Park, a little something to keep your hands toasty may be in order! The simple things – beautiful yarn, knits & purls – are all you need for a great accessory.”
Sizes: 7 ½ (8, 8 ½)” at wrist (7 ½” will fit most)
Techniques used include: knitting in the round, chart reading, and M1 increase.
Note: Gauge is based on blocked swatch; always treat your swatch like you plan to treat your finished piece.
This pattern was test knit!
There is also a companion cowl, Folsom Points.
Errata:
I changed the thumb gussets after working with test knitters; unfortunately, this pattern was already printed several hundred times for the yarn crawl by then! It’s not wrong the way it’s written, but if you’d prefer, here’s a simpler way to do the thumb gussets.
Left Mitt -
Note: Last row after Chart B – do not knit to end of row; stop at second thumb gusset.
Remove thumb gusset: place 15 thumb sts on waste yarn, remove thumb gusset markers. CO 4 sts above thumb. End of round is now at center of 4 new sts. 48 (51, 53) sts.
Right Mitt -
TOP OF MITT
Begin Chart C
Next Rnd: Work Row 1 of Chart C between chart markers, then knit to 2nd thumb gusset marker
Remove thumb gusset: place 15 thumb sts on waste yarn, remove thumb gusset markers. CO 4 sts above thumb. 48 (51, 53) sts.
