Looking for a crochet project with gentle rhythm and a touch of playful texture? The Cherry Cowl was designed to be simple enough to relax into, while still offering a satisfying little challenge. Inspired by my favourite design question—“what if?”—this cowl explores movement and texture. By shifting and later linking raised stitches, clusters of bobbles transform into sweet cherry motifs that give this piece its unique character. This is a one-skein DK crochet cowl pattern (I used Hayfield Spirit DK on a 5mm hook), making it a great weekend project or gift idea. The slouch and height are fully adjustable—simply work more or fewer repeats to create your perfect fit. I’ve also made a narrower version using hand-dyed DK yarn by omitting rows 21–26 (the final cherry section) and skipping the picot edging.
Whether you’re drawn to fun textures, enjoy rhythmic stitching, or want to explore a new twist on bobble placement, this cowl offers beautiful results with approachable construction. A cosy, eye-catching accessory packed with charm. Pattern is written in English and uses UK terms.
