The idea behind this shawl came to me when I wanted to knit two way stripes but didn’t want to knit with two yarns because my stranded knitting is horrible and would make the shawl very thick. So I came up with this!

The shawl consists of two different kind of sections, horizontal and vertical stripes. The vertical stripes are worked like mosaic stitch, slipping the stitches that are not the working color. This results in a slightly tighter fabric and before blocking the horizontal stripes sections might seem a bit looser than the vertical stripes, but blocking will fix that. The rim is worked with the same method as the vertical stripes. The outer rim and neck line have an i-cord finishing.

Yarn
For the original design Drops Fabel 75% wool, 25 % nylon, 205 m (224 yards) / 50 g
2 skeins each of MC: 400, Black CC: 330, Berry Dreams
or fingering weight yarn, 310 m (339 yards) of each color.

Needles
4 mm (US 6) at least 80 cm ( 32”) long circular needle

Stockinette, after blocking: 19.5 sts and 33 rows = 10 cm / 4 inch
