Chess Beanie
Chess Beanie is designed in two versions: a classic version and a Fisherman’s version. Both are knit with one strand of Yak from Tante Grøn, which gives them a light and thin look. The classic version is a simple beanie that just covers the ears, while the Fisherman’s version is designed to sit above the ears. Chess Beanie is worked from the bottom up, from the ribbing to the top of the hat. The stitches are cast on using an Italian cast-on (or a regular cast-on for the Fisherman’s version), after which a lovely, dense ribbed edge is worked, which is folded up at the end. From there, the hat is knit in a fine checkered pattern that gives a graphic and simple look. The top of the hat is shaped with decreases that preserve the integrity of the check pattern.
